How much does a custom cloud database cost?

It mostly depends on the complexity of the database, and the number of integrations and reports involved. Also new builds can be easier than upgrades. Either way, we will provide a ballpark estimate upfront and then more detailed estimates after we have done some analysis and design work..

How do you quote for work?

For new systems, we offer an initial ballpark estimate. Once the project starts we follow an iterative approach to development where we give estimates for each section, deliver it and then review. This allows you to stay in control of the budget and the scope. We also provide weekly reporting on time spent so you can see the progress being made..

Where is my database hosted?

We host our database solutions on secure, Australian AWS servers, ensuring reliability, scalability, and compliance with ISO 27001 standards. These are suitable for all types of clients including healthcare, government, and large enterprise clients.

How long does a project take from start to finish?

It varies enormously. A simple database can be prototyped using pure configuration within a few days. We often use our own cloud database platform (called TheDatabase) because it is quicker, easier and cheaper as it already contains a lot of functionality. We can normally customise it through configuration and minor code changes but sometimes that is not a good fit and we start with a different framework. If a lot of custom coding is required then it can go longer.

How do you handle scope changes?

We break large projects up into smaller tasks and work in collaboration with you. Each task is estimated and if approved we begin work. If extra features are requested, we discuss the impact on time and cost with you before proceeding.

Do you provide guarantees?

Yes. We guarantee our work for 1 month after go‑live. Any issues from our development during that period are fixed at no cost.

How much will it cost?

The cost is driven by the scope and complexity of your system. That includes the number of tables, the logic and SQL involved, the number of integration, the UI requirements, data size, and performance constraints. After our preliminary discovery, we’ll provide either fixed price quotes, or ballpark figures, for future works.

As a rough guide: a modest upgrade might cost in the low thousands (AUD); a full migration + web interface might be tens of thousands. Note that these are just estimates and your specific system could differ significantly to please talk to us to get more accurate figures.

Do you offshore development work?

Our analysis, design, and project management are Australian‑based. Some coding and testing are handled by our long‑term overseas staff, many with 10+ years’ experience with DB Gurus. All work is under strict security and confidentiality agreements.
