What was the project timescale?  

18 months 

What challenges have been faced along the way?  

There was a change of management during the creation of the solution. So we had to liaise with both the old and new managers at different points which did make communication hard at times. 

The client’s catalogue of items was extremely large. There was also a high amount of inter-object compatibility which posed an interesting challenge for filtering their database. 

What were the successful aspects of the project?  

The custom filtering that we developed for the database is really robust and we are extremely proud of the systems we built to accommodate it. 

What special or new features have been used?  

Hierarchical searching, filtration system, integration with client suppliers. We also integrated the platform with Xero to make it seamlessly work with their accounting software. 

What went “sub-optimally”? 

Lack of API endpoint integration for certain suppliers, reduced what options we had available. 

What training or other materials were provided? 

We had regular meetings with the client to show them the ropes. We also did up a cheat sheet with a quick overview of the basic features and how it works. There was also a more indepth database management manual for both users and the database admins.
